ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS?

In the current climate of civil change, and as social rights and responsibilities are redefined, how are you being affected? What about your rights to freedom, to equality, to employment?
VIVID is inviting people from Birmingham to take part ‘Acts of Memory’ – a collective recitation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with artist Monica Ross. Participants are invited to learn a small part of the Declaration of Human Rights and recite it in public, in their own language, as part of this
unique performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 31 March 2012 in the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral.

refuge and support

The Accord and Ashram Housing Associations are also doing a great job running a Refuge from Domestic Violence where the event was held. An excellent place and they work really hard to make sure the children have the best experience possible. They were celebrating their new recording studio which young people at the refuge can use. However, they have just lost funding for the children’s counselling service. Any thoughts anyone for funding which could help this continues?

Choir With No Name

At the Accord International Women’s day event today I met the inspiring Shirley Cooper who works as a volunteer with the Choir with No Name. The Choir went down well. It’s a choir of people who are experiencing or who have experienced homelessness. It meets every Thursday at Carrs Lane Church. Find out more my contacting the Birmingham Choir – details here: http://www.choirwithnoname.org/contact-us/

There is a heart-and-mind-blowing video on you tube of the London version of the choir here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLEiIsVxoD0

Does your event need a choir? – You can book and make a donation!
